This wine was gently handled throughout the vinification which has allowed us to express what ‘Old Vine ‘ Zinfandel is all about – THE FRUIT. Layers of clean Red and Black fruits are typical from this vineyard; we are getting raspberry, strawberry, blackberry and Black Cherry with a slightly wild edge at this early stage of her life. Looking deeper into this wine shows us the depth of the above fruit, with accents of spice and minerality.
Restrained winemaking along with the gentle use of French oak has allowed this wine to truly express the age of the Robert Rue Vineyard and enabled it to be extremely food friendly. We anticipate that with patience the layers of complexity and the richness of the terroir will evolve into something really special.

Reminiscent of fresh spring day, with a sweet grassiness, intertwined with the scents of blossoms and tropical fruits. The palete follows with a broad range of flavors from herbaceous grassy to Citrus/mineral with tropical floral notes. The wine will pair with and enormous variety of foods; there are of course the usual suspects, but none can be more classic and simple than ocean fresh oysters on the half shell. This combination lets both of these partners sing to their full potential, and allows us to appreciate the most simple and cleanest of Mother Natures flavors.
