ABOUT US

Since 1973 we have been caretakers of our 10-acre century old vineyard. -For the last 28 years we sold our grapes to many well-known Sonoma County wineries.

Finally, in 2001 our dream of making our own award-winning Zinfandel materialized.- -Although Robert Rue Vineyard may be a small-production winery, we can boast winning a 4-star Gold Medal, being selected twice for Best Varietals, winning Best Zinfandel, Best New World Zinfandel, six Double Gold Medals and 19 Gold Medals since the first release of our Wood Road Zinfandel.

Robert Rue Vineyard is truly a family affair, with our two daughters (Kristine and Kimberly) and their husbands (Patrick and Scott) helping out with the many duties of vineyard work, especially at harvest.- During harvest you might even see little pint-size pickers helping their grandparents in the vineyard. We have three grandchildren - two boys (Austin and Gabriel) and one little girl (Ciarah). Our grandchildren love to frolic through the vines and listen to grandpa tell stories. -One day soon, we hope there will be three more pair of hands to help with the vineyard work!

As a tribute to our family and the legacy of this vineyard, we have listed our grandchildren’s names on every bottle of Wood Road Zinfandel.- If you look for Austin, Gabriel and Ciarah’s names on the front label, we’re sure you’ll find them. We hope someday that our grandchildren will carry on the caretaking legacy for our heritage vineyard.
